I’ve seen something similar to these made with cream cheese at a party. I am dairy free, so I used a boiled egg for the white of the body instead. If there is a recipe or something you want to eat but you can’t, find out how it’s made and alter it to something safe for you. Be creative! I have yet to find something I couldn’t put together with my restrictions.
Penguins
- Black Olives
- Carrots
- Boiled Eggs
- Toothpicks
Hard boil the eggs and slice up the whites into a wedge for the white center penguin tummy. We won’t be needing the yolk for this recipe. Cut tiny carrot slices for beaks, and bigger more stable slices that look like a whole pizza (that’s missing a slice) for the feet. Slice open one half of an olive for the body and use an unaltered olive for the head. Squeeze the egg-white slice in the opening you just made in the sliced olive. Use a toothpick to attach the head, body, and feet of the penguin. Put the beak inside, and get the little guy to stand up. Sometimes it helps to make just a few completed penguins to find out what sizes and shapes of eggs and carrots make them balance the best for you.
These don’t have to be just for winter parties! I brought mine to an end of summer party and they were a huge hit!
